Let's start with the basics: screen size. From my experience testing various monitors, 24 inches seems to be the sweet spot for most people. While you might find smaller, cheaper options, they often don’t offer much in terms of a better experience, so the cost savings are minimal.
If you’re a creator, frequently work with spreadsheets, or simply want a more immersive display, a 27-inch monitor is a great choice. However, higher-resolution monitors tend to come with a heftier price tag, so it’s important to find a balance. The refresh rate determines how smooth your display appears. A higher refresh rate means a more fluid and seamless user experience. The broader the color coverage, the richer and more varied the colors will appear, with more vibrant pinks, deeper reds, and brighter yellows. Unlike the other specifications we've discussed, this one is more subjective and depends on your personal experience with the monitor. It encompasses factors such as brightness, HDR support, adjustability, and viewing angles, all of which contribute to the overall feel and usability of the monitor.
Starting off our list is the Redmi 1C monitor priced at 20K. This 23.8-inch IPS monitor offers Full HD resolution and comes with a 60Hz refresh rate out of the box, which can be increased to 75Hz for a smoother experience. While the colours are decent for everyday use, the contrast is somewhat lower, and the adjustment options are quite limited. The 60Hz refresh rate and the lack of Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) make it less suitable for gaming. However, for the price, it represents excellent value as a casual monitor for home or office use.

We reviewed the Redmi G24 a few months ago and had very few issues to note.

The 23.8-inch MD241P is priced around NPR 27,000, while the larger 27-inch MD271P costs about 33k. For those who need office monitors, these models offer excellent value.

For our final recommendation, the MSI G32C4X offers exceptional value at under 50,000 rupees, even though it usually costs around 55-60K. This 32-inch gaming monitor is a great deal for an immersive experience, despite its Full HD resolution which may seem low for its size. In everyday use and gaming, the pixelation isn't highly noticeable unless you look closely. With an impressive 250Hz refresh rate, it stands out as the fastest monitor on this list. The VA panel provides excellent contrast and appealing HDR content, while its curved design ensures good viewing angles. With 91% DCI-P3 color coverage, it delivers outstanding color performance for a 32-inch monitor at this price.

If you're wondering why there aren't any professional monitors listed, it's because they tend to be quite expensive, and we've focused on monitors priced under NPR 50,000 for now. We'll update our list to include higher-priced options in the future. However, if you're just starting out or you edit/design as a hobby, most of the monitors on our current list offer excellent color coverage. A one-time calibration should set you up for smooth sailing. For those who are seasoned professionals or work extensively with color, there are professional-grade monitors available in Nepal from brands like BenQ, ViewSonic, ASUS (Pro Art Series), Samsung, and Apple, though these typically start at NPR 65,000.
