vivo Y500 at a Glance
Rather than focusing on specification sheets, the vivo Y500 is best understood through its real-world experience. Its 8100mAh battery provides significantly longer usage than conventional 5,000mAh smartphones, while the efficient 6nm Unisoc T7300 balances performance and power consumption by assigning demanding tasks to Cortex-A78 performance cores and lighter workloads to Cortex-A55 efficiency cores.
The 6.83-inch AMOLED display combines a 165Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and 3840Hz PWM dimming to produce smoother animations, richer colors, and reduced screen flicker during extended nighttime use. Price, Variants & Value
The vivo Y500 price in Nepal is Rs. 54,999 and is available at Hukut Store. The phone comes in 8GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variants, both featuring UFS 2.2 storage, which offers noticeably faster app launches, file transfers, and installation speeds than traditional eMMC storage, although it remains slower than premium UFS 3.x solutions.
The 128GB variant is suitable for everyday users who primarily store photos and documents in the cloud, while the 256GB model is the better long-term option for users who frequently record videos, install large games, or keep extensive offline content, especially since the phone does not support expandable microSD storage.
At Rs. 54,999, the vivo Y500 delivers excellent value by combining a 6.83-inch 165Hz AMOLED display, 8100mAh battery, IP68/IP69 dust and water resistance, stereo speakers, and Android 16 with OriginOS 6 features that are rarely found together in this price segment. If you're looking to buy the vivo Y500 in Nepal, Hukut Store offers genuine products with official warranty support and competitive pricing.
Value Score: 9/10
Unboxing Experience
The retail package includes the 44W FlashCharge adapter, USB Type-C cable, transparent TPU protective case, SIM eject tool, and the standard quick start documentation. Including both a charger and protective case reduces additional purchase costs, allowing users to start using the phone immediately.
The bundled accessories feel well-made, particularly the TPU case, which provides basic protection without adding excessive bulk. While premium extras such as wired earphones are absent, the package includes everything most buyers need for everyday use.
Design & Build Review
The vivo Y500 is designed around practicality rather than flashy aesthetics. Despite housing a massive 8100mAh battery, it measures only 8.4–8.52mm thick, showing how vivo has optimized the internal layout to balance battery capacity with everyday comfort. At 215.72g, it is heavier than typical budget smartphones, but the weight is evenly distributed, preventing the phone from feeling top-heavy during extended use.
The combination of a glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame keeps repair costs lower while improving drop resistance compared to glass-backed phones. The curved edges provide a secure grip, and the camera module sits neatly without excessive wobble on flat surfaces. The side-mounted buttons are positioned within comfortable reach, while the fingerprint scanner responds quickly for daily unlocking. Face Unlock is equally convenient in good lighting but relies on the front camera rather than dedicated facial recognition hardware.
Durability is one of the Y500's strongest advantages. Its IP68/IP69 certification protects against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets, making it more resilient than many rivals. Combined with its solid frame and practical design, the phone feels reassuringly durable even though it uses plastic materials.
Display Review
The 6.83-inch AMOLED display is one of the biggest reasons to consider the vivo Y500. Unlike LCD panels that rely on a backlight, AMOLED lights each pixel individually, producing deeper blacks, higher contrast, and improved power efficiency when displaying darker content.
The 165Hz refresh rate refreshes the display up to 165 times per second, making scrolling, animations, and supported games noticeably smoother than standard 60Hz screens. Meanwhile, 3840Hz PWM dimming reduces perceived flicker at lower brightness levels, helping minimize eye fatigue during prolonged nighttime reading.
Support for HDR10+, 1 billion colors, and a sharp 449 PPI resolution delivers vibrant visuals with smooth color transitions and crisp text. The display also reaches up to 1800 nits in High Brightness Mode for improved outdoor visibility, while the advertised 3600-nit peak brightness primarily enhances small HDR highlights rather than full-screen brightness.
Movies, YouTube videos, and HDR content benefit from excellent contrast and wide viewing angles, while the responsive touch layer makes gaming and everyday navigation feel fluid.

Performance Review
The vivo Y500 is powered by the Unisoc T7300, built on an efficient 6nm manufacturing process. Its two Cortex-A78 performance cores handle demanding workloads such as multitasking and app launches, while six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores manage lighter background tasks to reduce power consumption. This combination delivers smooth everyday performance without placing unnecessary strain on the large battery.
The Mali-G57 MC2 GPU comfortably handles video streaming, social media, and casual gaming, although it is not intended for flagship-level graphics performance. Combined with 8GB RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, applications launch quickly, multitasking remains responsive, and daily navigation feels smooth. UFS 2.2 also improves file transfers and app installation compared to older eMMC storage, although it trails newer UFS 3.x standards.
Expected benchmark performance places the chipset around the 500,000 AnTuTu range, making it suitable for everyday productivity rather than heavy creative workloads. Thermal management remains controlled under sustained use, helping maintain consistent performance without excessive heat buildup.
Gaming Review
The vivo Y500 is better described as a casual gaming smartphone than a dedicated gaming device. Titles such as Free Fire, Mobile Legends, and PUBG Mobile/BGMI run smoothly at balanced graphics settings, while Call of Duty: Mobile remains comfortably playable with stable frame rates.
More demanding games like Genshin Impact require reduced graphics settings to maintain consistent performance because the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU prioritizes efficiency over maximum graphical output. During longer gaming sessions, the efficient 6nm chipset helps minimize heat generation, while the 8100mAh battery allows extended playtime without frequent charging.
The responsive high-refresh-rate display improves touch responsiveness, the gyroscope performs accurately for shooter games, and the stereo speakers provide better directional audio than single-speaker designs. For casual gamers, the Y500 delivers a satisfying experience, but competitive players seeking maximum graphics and frame rates will still be better served by smartphones equipped with higher-end Snapdragon or MediaTek flagship processors.
Camera Review
The vivo Y500's camera system is designed for everyday photography rather than professional imaging. Its 50MP primary camera uses Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) to achieve faster and more accurate focusing by measuring phase differences directly on the sensor, making it more reliable for moving subjects than traditional contrast autofocus.

|
Real-World Benefit
|
|
50MP Main Camera
|
Sharp daylight photos with good detail and quick autofocus.
|
|
2MP Depth Sensor
|
Improves portrait edge detection for more natural background blur.
|
|
32MP Front Camera
|
Detailed selfies and clearer video calls with support for 4K recording.
|
In daylight, the camera captures balanced colors, respectable HDR, and natural skin tones suitable for social media without excessive oversharpening. Indoor images remain clean under good lighting, while Night Mode combines multiple exposures to brighten darker scenes and reduce visible noise. Portrait mode produces convincing background separation, although complex edges can occasionally challenge the depth sensor.
Video recording supports 4K at 30fps and 1080p, with electronic stabilization helping reduce minor hand movements while walking. The microphones capture clear speech with reasonable wind noise suppression, making the phone suitable for casual vlogging and video calls. AI features such as AI UHD, AI Color Enhancement, and scene recognition automatically adjust contrast, saturation, and sharpness, improving convenience rather than fundamentally changing image quality.
Battery Review
The 8100mAh BlueVolt battery is the vivo Y500's defining feature. Its high energy density allows substantially longer runtime than conventional 5,000mAh smartphones while maintaining a relatively slim body. Combined with the efficient 6nm Unisoc T7300 and AMOLED display, the phone easily handles extended streaming, navigation, photography, and gaming without frequent charging.
Although vivo doesn't disclose every detail of its BlueVolt battery chemistry, it is designed to improve energy efficiency and slow long-term battery degradation. The charging system also carefully manages temperature during the 44W FlashCharge process, helping reduce unnecessary stress on the battery. While 44W is slower than some competitors, it is a practical balance for charging such a large capacity safely.
Heavy gaming naturally increases power consumption, but the large battery still provides extended play sessions, while standby drain remains impressively low thanks to Android 16's background process optimization. Overall, battery endurance is among the best in its category, making battery anxiety virtually nonexistent for most users.
Software Review
The vivo Y500 runs Android 16 with OriginOS 6, offering a clean and responsive interface with smooth animations and extensive customization. Features such as Split Screen, Floating Windows, Always-On Display, and Ultra Game Mode improve multitasking and gaming, while memory management keeps frequently used apps active in the background for quicker switching.
Privacy controls, permission management, and accessibility settings are well organized, although a small number of pre-installed applications may require manual removal. Overall, OriginOS delivers a polished software experience with useful AI-assisted optimizations rather than unnecessary visual complexity.
Audio & Connectivity
Stereo speakers provide clearer and wider sound than single-speaker systems, improving movies, games, and music playback, although bass remains limited. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.4, dual-band Wi-Fi, multi-constellation GPS, USB Type-C with OTG support, and reliable 4G reception. Call quality remains clear thanks to effective microphone noise reduction, making voice and video calls consistently dependable.
AI Features Explained
The vivo Y500 uses AI primarily to optimize existing features rather than introduce entirely new experiences. AI camera processing automatically adjusts exposure, color balance, and scene detection, while battery optimization learns usage patterns to reduce unnecessary background activity and improve endurance. Display optimization adapts brightness and color based on ambient lighting, helping balance visibility with battery efficiency.
Some AI functions, such as automatic scene recognition and battery optimization, genuinely improve everyday usability. Others, including aggressive color enhancement, are more subjective and may not appeal to every user. Overall, the AI features feel practical because they quietly enhance the user experience instead of relying on marketing alone.
Living With the vivo Y500
The vivo Y500 is built for users who value reliability throughout the day. The 8100mAh battery easily handles morning alarms, office work, navigation, social media, video streaming, and voice calls without creating battery anxiety. The large 6.83-inch AMOLED display makes reading, YouTube, and browsing comfortable, while the efficient 6nm Unisoc T7300 keeps everyday apps responsive. By the end of the day, most users will still have sufficient battery remaining, making overnight charging more of a convenience than a necessity.
Who Should Buy the vivo Y500?
The vivo Y500 is an excellent choice for students, office users, travelers, parents, media consumers, and anyone who prioritizes long battery life over flagship performance. It also suits casual gamers and senior citizens thanks to its large AMOLED display, dependable software experience, durable IP68/IP69 construction, and straightforward everyday usability.
Who Should Avoid the vivo Y500?
The vivo Y500 may not be the right choice for users seeking competitive gaming performance, professional photography, 5G connectivity, NFC support, or extremely fast charging. Those requiring flagship GPU performance or advanced camera hardware should consider higher-end Snapdragon or Dimensity-powered alternatives.
