Display Analysis

The 6.83-inch AMOLED display is one of the POCO M8 Pro's biggest highlights. Unlike LCD panels, AMOLED illuminates each pixel individually, producing deeper blacks, higher contrast, and improved power efficiency when displaying darker content.

The 120Hz refresh rate refreshes the screen 120 times every second, resulting in smoother scrolling and more responsive animations. HDR10+ adjusts brightness scene by scene, while Dolby Vision further improves contrast and color accuracy on supported streaming platforms.

The display reaches 1800 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM) for better outdoor visibility, while the advertised 3200-nit peak brightness is reserved for small HDR highlights rather than the entire screen. 3840Hz PWM dimming rapidly adjusts brightness at low levels to reduce visible OLED flicker, helping minimize eye fatigue during extended reading sessions.

With a 447 PPI resolution and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, the display is expected to deliver sharp text, vivid colors, excellent viewing angles, and strong durability for daily use. Real-world color accuracy, HDR performance, and outdoor visibility will still require hands-on testing after launch.

Performance Analysis

The POCO M8 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, built using an efficient 4nm fabrication process. Its Cortex-A720 performance cores handle demanding applications and multitasking, while the Cortex-A520 efficiency cores manage lighter background workloads to reduce power consumption and improve battery life.

The integrated Adreno 810 GPU should comfortably support modern mobile games, multimedia playback, and AI-enhanced imaging. Qualcomm's AI engine also accelerates tasks such as scene recognition, image processing, voice recognition, and system optimization directly on the device without constantly relying on cloud processing.

One compromise is the inclusion of UFS 2.2 storage. While significantly faster than eMMC, it offers lower read and write speeds than UFS 3.1, meaning large file transfers, app installations, and game loading times may be slightly slower. Even so, the overall hardware combination should provide reliable performance for everyday use while remaining well-positioned for several years of Android updates.

Expected Gaming Performance

Based on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and Adreno 810 GPU, the POCO M8 Pro is expected to deliver solid upper mid-range gaming performance. Esports titles such as PUBG Mobile/BGMI, Call of Duty: Mobile, Free Fire MAX, Mobile Legends, and Asphalt Legends should run smoothly at medium to high graphics settings with stable frame rates.

More demanding games like Genshin Impact will likely require medium graphics settings to maintain consistent performance during extended sessions. The efficient 4nm chipset should help reduce heat generation, while the 6500mAh Silicon-Carbon battery is expected to provide long gaming sessions before requiring a recharge.

Expected Gaming Performance (Based on Hardware)

Game	Expected Experience
PUBG/BGMI	Smooth gameplay at medium to high settings
Call of Duty: Mobile	Stable performance with high frame rates
Free Fire MAX	High graphics with smooth gameplay
Mobile Legends	Excellent frame stability
Asphalt Legends	Smooth racing experience
Genshin Impact	Playable at medium settings with occasional frame drops during demanding scenes

Note: These gaming expectations are based on the confirmed chipset, GPU architecture, and available benchmark data. Final gaming performance, thermals, battery drain, and sustained frame stability will be verified after hands-on testing of the retail device.

Camera Analysis

The POCO M8 Pro features a 50MP main camera built around a relatively large 1/1.55-inch sensor, f/1.6 aperture, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and Dual Pixel PDAF. A larger sensor captures more light, while the wider aperture further improves low-light performance by allowing more light to reach the sensor. OIS physically compensates for small hand movements, helping produce sharper night photos and steadier videos, whereas Dual Pixel PDAF uses phase-detection pixels across the sensor to achieve faster and more accurate autofocus, particularly for moving subjects.

The 8MP ultrawide camera is expected to perform well for landscapes and group shots thanks to its 120° field of view, although its smaller sensor will likely produce less detail and increased noise in low-light conditions. The 32MP front camera should deliver detailed selfies, natural portrait shots, and clear video calls, making it well suited for social media and remote meetings.

Video quality is expected to benefit from OIS, producing smoother handheld footage and better stability during walking shots. HDR processing should improve highlight and shadow balance, while multiple microphones are expected to enhance voice clarity by reducing background noise.

Battery & Charging Analysis

The 6500mAh Silicon-Carbon battery is one of the POCO M8 Pro's standout features. Compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, Silicon-Carbon technology increases energy density, allowing a larger battery to fit inside a relatively slim 8.3mm chassis without significantly increasing weight.

The 100W HyperCharge system intelligently adjusts charging current and voltage throughout the charging cycle. High charging power is delivered when the battery is low, then gradually reduced as the battery approaches full capacity to minimize heat and help preserve long-term battery health. Reverse wired charging also allows the phone to power compatible accessories in emergencies.

Under typical mixed usage, the large battery is expected to comfortably last a full day of heavy use or significantly longer for moderate users. Combined with Xiaomi's battery management algorithms, the charging system aims to balance speed, efficiency, and long-term durability rather than focusing solely on maximum charging power.

Software & AI

The POCO M8 Pro ships with Android 15 and HyperOS 2, backed by four major Android upgrades, making it one of the stronger long-term software commitments in its class. HyperOS improves system responsiveness through better memory scheduling and tighter integration across Xiaomi devices while supporting productivity features such as floating windows, split-screen multitasking, and extensive customization.

AI-powered tools are expected to include image editing, smart search, writing assistance, Google Gemini integration, and potentially Circle to Search where supported. These features rely on Qualcomm's on-device AI engine, allowing many tasks to be processed locally for improved speed and privacy.

Audio & Connectivity

Stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos create a wider soundstage than single-speaker systems, improving movies, games, and music playback. Support for Hi-Res Audio and Hi-Res Wireless Audio benefits users with compatible headphones by enabling higher-quality audio playback.

Connectivity is equally modern, featuring Bluetooth 5.4 for improved efficiency, Wi-Fi 6/6E for faster wireless networking, 5G for higher mobile data speeds, multi-band GPS for more accurate navigation, NFC for supported contactless payments, and USB Type-C with OTG, allowing direct connection of flash drives and compatible accessories.

Hidden Technologies Buyers Shouldn't Ignore
